Powder Blue Isopods

Powder Blue Isopods (Porcellionides pruinosus) are hardy, beginner-friendly isopods for bioactive terrariums. They serve as a natural cleanup crew — consuming mold, decaying plant matter, and animal waste to keep your enclosure clean and healthy.

Care

  • Substrate: Moist organic mix (coconut fiber + leaf litter + sphagnum moss)
  • Temperature: 70-80°F
  • Humidity: 60-80% (provide both moist and dry areas)
  • Food: Leaf litter (primary), decaying wood, fish flakes, calcium supplements (cuttlebone)

Powder Blues are the most popular starter isopod — fast breeding, hardy, and excellent cleanup performance. Ideal for dart frog vivariums, crested gecko enclosures, and any humid bioactive setup.
