Glenn Shea, pers. comm. (April 2020): "Diurnal? The most extensive study on this species, by van den Elzen & Raynaud (1977), says that it moves under stones in the afternoon, and says it uses these because they offer "strong insulation for thermoregulation or foraging for food", suggesting that it is active under the rocks by day."
