"Liolaemus salitrosus sp. nov. is a specialist which inhabits the shores of two lagoons of the Antofalla salt flats, occupying only areas vegetated by Lycium humile (Figs 5g, h), a low-growing solanaceous halophyte. This lizard dwells in burrows constructed by rodents, which include branching galleries and provide refuges from predators. Some individuals make use of meanders, which are formed naturally by the salt crusts"
