Anaconda Arctic Plains Hognose Snake

One animal carrying both genes. Each one is inherited separately, so this combination is made by bringing them together rather than being a gene of its own.

The two genes

Anaconda
co-dominant
Blotches reduced and pushed toward the spine, leaving clean flanks. Two copies produce a Superconda, which is nearly patternless.
Arctic
co-dominant
High contrast in greys and browns with a lighter ground. Two copies produce a Super Arctic, paler again and often nearly white between the markings.

How one is made

Both genes have to come together in the same animal. The pairing that does it most directly is Anaconda × Arctic, which works out every outcome and its odds.

Worth knowing

Anaconda. A Superconda is the two-copy form and is a healthy, established animal — unlike the two-copy form of some genes in other species, it carries no documented welfare problem. Breeding two Anacondas together produces roughly one Superconda in four.
