Small Discoid Roaches
Small Discoid Roach Nymphs — Perfectly Sized for Juvenile Reptiles and Small Species
Small discoid roaches are the ideal feeder insect for juvenile reptiles, dart frogs, small geckos, and any animal that needs appropriately sized prey. At All Angles Creatures, every order is size-graded to ensure you receive consistently small nymphs — no oversized surprises that could intimidate or injure a small animal.
Why Small Feeders Matter
Feeding prey that is too large can cause choking, impaction, or stress in young reptiles. The universal safety rule is to offer feeders no wider than the space between your animal's eyes. Our small discoid roach nymphs are carefully graded to fall within safe sizing for baby bearded dragons, juvenile leopard geckos, young chameleons, dart frogs, small skinks, and other small insectivores.
| Size | Length | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Small (nymphs) | 1/4 - 1/2 inch | Baby beardies, juvenile geckos, dart frogs, small chameleons, hatchling skinks |
| Medium | 3/4 - 1 inch | Adult leopard geckos, sub-adult beardies, adult chameleons |
| Large | 1.25 - 1.75 inch | Adult bearded dragons, monitors, tegus |
Soft-Bodied and Easy to Digest
Young discoid nymphs have softer exoskeletons than adults, making them significantly easier for small reptiles to chew and digest. This is especially important for juvenile animals whose digestive systems are still developing. Compared to mealworms — which have tough chitin shells and are not recommended for juvenile bearded dragons — small discoid nymphs are a much gentler option that minimizes impaction risk.
Gut-Loaded for Growing Reptiles
Growth stages are when nutrition matters most. Every small discoid roach we ship is gut-loaded with organic greens, squash, and calcium-dusted produce for at least 24 hours before packing. The nutrients inside the roach transfer directly to your growing animal at feeding time, supporting strong bone development, healthy organ function, and steady growth. We recommend dusting with calcium and D3 powder at each feeding for juvenile reptiles.
No Odor, No Climbing, No Escapes
Even as nymphs, discoid roaches cannot climb smooth surfaces. They produce virtually no odor and are completely silent. They do not bite. You can house them in a simple plastic bin with no special containment needed — just food scraps and water crystals.
